My career in the wedding business started my freshman year of college in 1991 when I started designing and making custom bridal gowns and accessories while interning for some of the biggest designers in that business. I attended Parsons School of Design (you might know the name from Bravo’s Project Runway series) where I worked toward a Bachelor of Fine Art degree, and ultimately decided to bring my creative juices back to the Midwest where I graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin at Madison (Go Badgers!). In my senior year, I was awarded and completed a scholarship thesis on the history and origins of bridal traditions in multiple cultures.

I got my first taste of the wedding world over 10 years ago working with a florist in my hometown, but I am definitely the girl who has had weddings on the brain since elementary school. Even as a child, my wedding daydreams were all about creative concepts, logistics and locations for a wide range of brides and grooms. Originally from Boston, I started my career in events and catering over 14 years ago, working as a catering manager at two of that city’s premier hotels, The Boston Park Plaza Hotel and The Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel. It was there that I learned the “biz” working with the city’s top event planners, photographers, linen companies, florists etc.  I planned weddings and events of all sizes, from 5 guests to 500, and realized that I wanted to do the same thing on a larger scale in a bigger city.  I eventually moved to Chicago to pursue my passion, and had the opportunity to work for three of the city’s most prestigious hotels, the Sheraton Chicago where I was the “wedding specialist” the Hilton Chicago as a Senior Catering Manager and The Drake Hotel as the Senior Catering Sales Manager and Wedding Specialist.

Brittanie joined LOLA in 2007 as an intern candidate and was thrown into the wedding business with one of the most logistically challenging weddings we have ever done – where she passed with flying colors.  From the very first minute she joined the team, her grace, style, creativity and poise under pressure has made her our “go-to” person on site at events, and she quickly became our most requested Event Assistant by both the Senior Coordinators and clients.  She has now started managing her own client list and consistently gets rave reviews for her on-site implementation.
