LOLA wedding at the Chicago History Museum
The Chicago History Museum was the venue for Laura and Elliott’s beautiful summer wedding ceremony and reception this past weekend. The choices they made for colors and decor were PERFECTION in the room. Simple, elegant, timeless! They made great efforts to ensure the ceremony decor would be equally lovely inside and out in case of bad weather, so when we moved festivities indoors because of the heat and humidity – they were still THRILLED with the look and feel of everything. Flip flops for the female guests, 5 different flavors of cakes on vintage cake plates and the cutest little cake topper complete with glasses to match the groom and taupe sash to match the bride added personal touches to the decor!

Congrats to Jackie and Derrick that had their ceremony and reception at Gallery 1028 on May 21, 2011! I LOVE the bride’s ballgown skirt and simple styling – totally classic and chic. The decor featured brilliant bouquets of spring blooms that included bright pink peonies and lilac. A moss covered escort card table and carafs of water that doubled as table numbers finished the decor perfectly. Thanks to Dean Thorsen for the photos!

I love a bold bride – someone who REALLY wants to do something different. Well, that is exactly what we got when we met Becky and Brendan who tied the knot in an informal ceremony on August 28, 2010! From her gorgeous print gown to the cocktail style reception for their 125 guests at the Old Oak Tap in their Ukie Village neighborhood – this bride broke all the rules with her hip style. This just goes to show that a non-traditional event can flow beautifully, and that guests will have a great time celebrating no matter what the format as long as it is well thought out and creative. Thanks to Monica Z Photography for these fantastic images! Floral by LOLA Event Productions.

LOLA at Architectural Artifacts
When an event planner named Lori gets married at Architectural Artifacts on November 6, 2010, what does she do? Why, hire another event planner named Lori to help her pull things together for her big day! And what an event it was… From the gorgeous eclectic tables featuring textured linens, flowers and containers, to the branchy dance floor lighting and the custom print goods that were right on trend for 2011. However, I think my favorite part of the evening may have been the Father/Daughter dance. It brought me back to my “head banging” days with a little GNR “Sweet Child of Mine.” How fun is that? Congratulations Lori & Ross Dimun!

LOLA at Cafe Brauer
Congratulations to Jen and Steve – married September 4, 2010. The vision for their wedding came from part of their romantic engagement. After Steve popped the question he surprised Jen with a trip to Paris… Thus making France an obvious source of inspiration for their big day. Just as you would find in a Parisian café, the reception menu was scrawled on an oversized chalkboard as the guests entered Café Brauer. We brought in a piece of the French countryside with whimsical topiaries and lush gardeny floral arrangements, using smilax vine as accents throughout the space. Jen used old family photos as table numbers to give the entire look a vintage and very personal feel – and I am in love with her vintage cake topper! Thanks to Christopher and Allure for these fantastic shots!

Prairie Production – 3 Times as Nice with LOLA!

Prairie Production is one of our favorite Chicago wedding venues because of its versatility and value, and we were lucky enough to work there multiple times in the past month! Congratulations to Therese and Dan married 6.11.10, Jamie and Scot married 6.26.10 and Alicia and Bill married 7.10.10! Each bride put her own unique stamp on the gallery-like space with soaring ceilings and abundant natural light. The neutral base palette makes any color pop – and design can range from modern to whimsical. Here are some highlights!
3 different couples…
These and Dan Perdue married 6.11.10 created a vintage inspired event full or charming details including a ping pong table for entertainment painted the bride’s signature color of yellow! For more on this event you can also check out the deets Style Me Pretty! Photo by Dean Thorsen
I’m waiting on a photo for Jamie and Scot – stay tuned! I know you get mad when I dont feature a photo of the happy couple!
Alicia and Bill married 7.10.10 wanted a whimsical event full or color and texture. When the bride found some cool bird cages she wanted worked into the event design – we were up to the challenge!
